they\u2019re young and in the back of hyukjae\u2019s car. they\u2019re doing homework, actually, because they always do their homework, always study. frequently together, although not all the time.<\/p>\n

hyukjae had gotten his license first and sungmin had said, \u201ci don\u2019t see the point of getting my license if you\u2019re going to be driving me around everywhere,\u201d so that\u2019s that.<\/p>\n

hyukjae throws his pencil down and whines, \u201ci don\u2019t feel like doing homework,\u201d and sungmin nods in agreement.<\/p>\n

\u201cyeah,\u201d he says, \u201ci don\u2019t feel like doing anything right now, either.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201ci want to feel like doing homework,\u201d hyukjae mutters. \u201ci just – can\u2019t.\u201d<\/p>\n

sungmin puts his pencil down and looks at him. \u201cstressed?\u201d he asks, sounding a bit worried.<\/p>\n

\u201cnot even. there\u2019s nothing to stress me out,\u201d says hyukjae.<\/p>\n

they both get straight-a\u2019s and wear their uniforms perfectly, unlike the kids who sometimes discard their ties or wear them around their heads, and roll up their sleeves and cut off the cuffs on their khaki\u2019s. both sungmin\u2019s and hyukjae\u2019s uniforms are impeccable.<\/p>\n

sungmin asks him then, \u201chave you ever kissed anyone?\u201d and hyukjae needs to make sure he\u2019s hearing properly, that he\u2019s not just imagining things, and asks, \u201cdid you just ask me if i\u2019ve kissed someone before?\u201d<\/p>\n

sungmin nods; his expression is unreadable. this is different to hyukjae because he\u2019s always been able to read sungmin.<\/p>\n

\u201cum,\u201d he says. \u201ctruthfully, no, but – what does that have to do with anything?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201ccan we,\u201d starts sungmin, and then beckons him over. \u201ccome here.\u201d hyukjae\u2019s not sure what he means, since they\u2019re sitting right next to each other, but he supposes sungmin wants him to get closer so he does.<\/p>\n

sungmin\u2019s lips flit over his and then are gone within half a second. hyukjae blinks and stares at him and asks, \u201cwhat was that?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cjust,\u201d says sungmin. \u201cnow you\u2019ve kissed somebody.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cwhat,\u201d says hyukjae, \u201chave you kissed someone before too?\u201d<\/p>\n

sungmin shakes his head. he gives hyukjae a little smile. \u201ci guess now i have,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n

they return to their homework like nothing\u2019s happened; hyukjae\u2019s car is small and cramped, but this is their space for now. hyukjae knows that in five years at the least he\u2019ll be in university and sungmin will be in another and the distance will drive them apart, they won\u2019t be friends anymore. hyukjae will marry someone pretty and sungmin will marry someone prettier and the both of them will be called successful by their parents and friends and family. sometimes on late nights hyukjae will think about high school and he\u2019ll think about that boy named sungmin, and how that boy had stolen his first kiss.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
